Starbuck: The Story of Our Funeral Home

Starbuck: The Story of Our Funeral Home

Since our founding, the guiding principle of Starbuck Funeral Home has been the commitment to treating each family who comes to us as our own. With sincerity, pride, and dedication, we are committed to this time-honored tradition.

Located in downtown Merkel, Texas, the streets are still lined in red brick bringing out the history of the town. Over 100 years ago when Starbuck opened its doors, they hand crafted the caskets in the store. Although no caskets or horse drawn wagons are being made today in the building, the history of that time is visible on the outside signage. When you walk into the business office, you are able to see the red brick walls and grandfather clock in the corner. The chapel was constructed in the 1940's yet still has many of today's modern conveniences. The most recent addition has been a reception hall equip with a sink, large refrigerator, large counter space, and table and chairs to accommodate a gathering of 100 people.  Although some update have been done over the years, a lot of the history has been preserved and the atmosphere is warm and comforting.

Starbuck Funeral Home is family owned and operated. Our reputation for providing the highest quality of service grew, and today we are privileged to serve many families each year as a leader in and among Merkel, Abilene, and surrounding areas.
