William Allen “Snake” Crouse, of Merkel, TX passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023 at age 66.
Allen was born on December 17, 1956 in San Antonio, Texas, the firstborn of 5 children of Paul L. And Loyce J. “Jean” Crouse. Allen’s dad at the time was a member of the United States Air Force which would carry the family from Texas to Kansas, Alaska and ultimately back to Texas. After his father retired from the Air Force he would soon become the Chief of Police of Merkel, which brought the family to Allen’s permanent home.
For years Allen has been a fixture of the city of Merkel, known by most residents and a friend to many.
Late in his life Allen made a public profession of his confidence in the saving work of Christ and was baptized to express that confidence publicly.
Allen was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his four siblings, Paula King of Trent, Cathy Garrett of Merkel, Mike Crouse of Lakeland, FL, and Forrest “Buck” Crouse of Merkel. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Merkel VFW or Hendricks Hospice Care.
