Wesley Marlin Hudgins

Wesley Marlin Hudgins, 72, of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 19, 2023. He was born in Big Spring, Texas to Katherine and H.O. “Hack” Hudgins on September 30, 1950. Wesley worked for the federal prison system for twenty plus years and after he retired he went back to college and graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. He was married to the love of his life, Dolores, in July 1985. He had a passion for golf and talked about it daily. He taught himself how to play by reading magazines and spending as much time on the golf course practicing. He had an older brother Jodel, who he was very close to even though they were 9 -10 years apart, unfortunately he lost him in 1980 in a hotel fire. Wesley is survived by his daughters Johnnievette Peterson of Lubbock, Chrisie Collins of Lubbock, and Cortney Morris of McKinney; son J.R. Gaitan; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores; parents Katherine and Hack; and brother Jodel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Starbuck Funeral Home, 201 Edwards, Merkel, TX 79536.
