Wanda Joyce (Brewer) McAninch

Wanda Joyce (Brewer) McAninch, “Mom”, 89, of Merkel, TX, passed into the arms of her Savior on January 23, 2022. A visitation will be held, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Starbuck Funeral Home from 5-7 PM.  A celebration of her life will be held, Thursday, January 27, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Merkel.

Wanda was born on October 11, 1932 in Noodle, TX. She graduated from Noodle High School as Valedictorian. She married Ted McAninch on July 1, 1950. The couple farmed and ranched and worked in Taylor County until their retirement.

Wanda was the hands and feet of Jesus as she served at her church and in her community. She loved her family and friends dearly and would do whatever she could for them.

She is survived by her daughters: Dayna Henderson and husband Greg, and Tonja Meeks and husband Rickey; her five grandchildren:  Heather Henderson of Boerne, Rendi Owens and husband Stephen of Lubbock, Landry Meeks and wife Megan of Merkel, Heath Henderson and wife Heather of Merkel, and Whitney Sterling and husband Jonathan of Lubbock; she is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Garrett, McKenna, Holden, Harlowe, Nolan and Juniper.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ted McAninch, her parents: Rita McClain and Hester Brewer; her brothers: Wayne and Dwayne Brewer, as well as, her grandmother who raised her, Alice Cooper.
