Wanda Jane “Hester” Hendricks was born September 8, 1940 in Jones County, Texas to Jessie Vernon “J.V.” and Tessie Vera Wade Hester. She attended Merkel High School. Wanda married David Camuel “D.C.” Hendricks on May 25, 1957 in Merkel. She worked for the Merkel Drug Store before becoming a housewife. She enjoyed golfing and spending time with her P.K. Ladies. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy James and husband, Dennis of Brownwood; son, David Camuel Hendricks, Jr. of Merkel; grandchildren, David Camuel “Cam” Hendricks, III and wife, Melissa of Tomball; Derek James and wife, Rebekah of Houston; Leslie James Burns and husband, Ryan of San Antonio; Matthew Hendricks, Tanner Hendricks-Harris and Mason Hendricks-Harris, all of Merkel; great-grandchildren, Brody, Sebastian, Louisa, Jackson, Jacob, Jace, Jett, Kennedy, Deacon, Kendal, Maddison, Declan and Harper Jane. Other survivors include her sister, Leta Heady of Merkel; brother, Gene Hester of Lott, Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.C.; her parents; brother, William Hester and sister, Tessie Warren. Pallbearers will be Cam Hendricks, Derek James, Ryan Burns, Matt Hendricks, Tanner Hendricks-Harris, and Mason Hendricks-Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be the P.K. Ladies. Visitation with the family will be held from 5pm to 6:30pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Starbuck Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 am on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
