Virgil Hunt, 94, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 8, 2025, at Baylor Hospital. He will be laid to rest in a small private ceremony in his family’s cemetery in Toler Creek in Harold, Kentucky.
Born in Amba, Kentucky, on August 9, 1931, Virgil retired as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force. After retiring, he was an active community member, owning Merkel Brick and Lumber, building houses, and exploring the US with his grandkids on summer breaks. Virgil loved working with his hands, puzzles of all kinds, fixing things that were broken, and swore by Kentucky “medicine”.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 70 years, Angela, and his sister, Trish. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen and is survived by his daughter, Donna, and his daughter-in-law, Shirley. Virgil is also survived by his five granddaughters, Chloe, Myriah, Kristene, Lauren, and Katherine and his five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan, Bryson, Bella, and Logan.
Virgil will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, and deep love of those he cared about. He was known to say, “what’s life without a laugh” and he truly lived by that. We will never forget all the lessons, the road trips, and the guidance. We are all forever changed for the better for knowing him.
