We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Starbuck Funeral Home
Travis William Walker Sr., 80, was called home August 12, 2022 from Merkel, Texas. He was born March 14, 1942 in Greeley, Colorado to Thomas Earl and Nettie (Williams) Walker. Soon after Travis was born, his family moved to Lubbock, Texas, where he was raised. He married Linda Sue Mahan on March 8, 1969, and they raised their three children in Trent, Texas. After raising their children Travis and Linda moved to Abilene, when Linda passed he moved to Merkel.
Travis joined the army at 17 years old and this is where he learned to drive a truck. He was a truck driver professionally for over 50 years. When his kids were little, they would ask mama, “When’s daddy coming home?”, and she would say, “When you see him coming!” The other day, Jesus asked God, “When is Travis coming home?”, and God said “Right now!” So, mom and dad, Ya’ll will have to wait on us to come home. We will be there when you see us coming and until then we miss you both terribly.
Our daddy was a generous man, he would give anyone the shirt off his back without even thinking about it being the only one he had (I’ve seen him do it). He loved playing card games, watching good old westerns, and telling stories about the places he had been.
He is survived by one daughter: Kim Lindsey and husband Joe of Merkel, TX, two sons: Travis Walker Jr and wife Jennifer of Waco, TX, and Thomas Walker of Granbury, TX. Three sisters: Joy, Janet and Leona; nine grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda, and two sisters: Earline and Marie.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Trent’s Garden of Memories Cemetery in Trent, TX under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel.
