Stephen Ray Peachey left this mortal plane on June 1, 2026, after a long battle with chronic lung disease and congestive heart failure. Stephen was born in Presque Isle, Maine, but he “got to Texas as fast as he could” - he spent most of his life in Texas, first in Merkel and later in Bryan/College Station and Burleson.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Peachey; mother, Olga Griggs Peachey; brother, George Michael Peachey; and several dear friends. Among his living family are two sons, Levi Peachey and Jesse Peachey (Hillicia), and a granddaughter, Leela Peachey, as well as sisters Beth Hackett and Susan Moore (Maury); nieces and nephews Sara McNeil (Jon), Aliya Stephens (Gabe), Zachary Moore, Ethan Moore, and Maggie Moore; great niece Ruby McNeil; great nephew Cyrus Stephens; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Steve was a loyal friend, proud father (Pop) and grandfather, and longtime pursuer of the freedom of the open road. He was an avid student of life and history, a music lover, and a skilled raconteur, often entertaining others with colorful stories. Steve worked hard and played hard, lived his life honestly, and was always unapologetically himself. He was a one-man show. Everyone who met him ended up with a story about him. Stephen Ray Peachey was unforgettable. He will be greatly missed. The world has been a better place with him in it. A celebration of life in his honor will be held in the near future.
