Shirley Jean (Mitchell) Smart

Shirley Jean (Mitchell) Smart, age 82, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 6, 2021 at Silver Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on February 21, 1938 in Tye, TX to Luther Mitchell and Detta Mae (Bardin) Mitchell.

Shirley was an amazing woman who cherished and loved spending time with her family. She was a resident of Silver Springs for many years and if you were to ask Shirley, she would have told you she was their favorite resident. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed watching them play. Shirley touched many lives throughout her time here on earth and will be sorely missed by many.

Those left to cherish her love and memory include her sons: David Keesee and wife Jayne of Abilene and Marty Keesee and wife Machele of Andrews, TX; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Randy Keesee; one grandson: Justin Keesee and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Friday, January 8. 2021 at Starbuck Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow visitation at 3:00 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel.
