Rodney "R.T." White Obituary

Rodney Thomas “R.T.” White age 74, died after prolonged complications following heart surgery in Abilene Texas on 25 April 2025.

Rodney was born in Hamlin, Texas to George and Margie White, brother of Rhonda and Rusty. Preceded in death by wife Iris E. (Henager) White. Living children include Tim, Marcus, Rowdy, Rocky, and Rusty. Grandchildren include Aerilyn, Branson, Rylee, and Sarah.

Rodney joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after high school in 1970, serving on a helicopter crew before being wounded and honorably discharged. Understandably, this was a defining event in his life, and he was extremely proud of his service. His love of aviation persisted, leading Rodney to earn a private pilot’s license.

After the Marines, Rodney became a heavy equipment operator building lake dams, bridges, overpasses, roads, runways, and underground utilities still in use today.

Growing up in both West Texas and central Arizona, Rodney developed a love of the outdoors which led to countless miles ridden on his motorcycle through deserts and prairies. He was also particularly fond of the coast and counted getting stuck on the beach as bonus beach time. Rodney also loved animals, especially dogs, and considered a few of them as some of the finest people he knew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America.
