Robert Andrew Shouse, 77, of Dallas, Texas passed away on May 13, 2024 in Bedford, Texas with his three sons by his side.
Robert was born in Abilene, to Andy and Anna Belle Shouse on March 10, 1947. He graduated from Merkel High School, McMurray College, and Baylor College of Dentistry. He was raised in Merkel, Texas where he excelled in school, athletics, and scouting. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was named Class A First Team All-Area as an offensive tackle in 1963. He married Mamie Patterson on February 22, 1968, and together they raised their three boys. Robert and Mamie’s paths diverged, but their bond remained.
Robert was a man of many talents and over the years worked in broadcasting and was a popular radio DJ known as “Little Andy” in Merkel and Abilene. He was also a TV news reporter in Abilene and WFAA channel 8 in Dallas, TX. Robert worked his way through dental school while working at WFAA. After graduating from dental school, he managed his own private practice for over 35 years in Dallas. He also served the Boy Scouts of America by being an active leader of Boy Scout Troop 636 and a district chairman of the Friends of Scouting campaign. For his many years of service, the Boy Scouts honored Robert with their highest volunteer recognition the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church.
Awards: Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver, Merkel Sports Hall of Fame, Big Chief of I.H.R Social club, President of the Zip Dental Fraternity.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Andy Shouse, and mother, Anna Belle Shouse.
Robert is survived by former spouse, Mamie Patterson-Pruett, his sons Scott Shouse and his wife Hilary, Matt Shouse and girlfriend Amanda Busch, Joey Shouse and his wife Mindy, and his grandchildren Morgan, Charlie, and Luke.
Pallbearers will be Scott Shouse, Matt Shouse, Joey Shouse, Jason Walla, Aaron Walla, and Brandt Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Walla and Finley Barnett
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 17th at Starbuck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18th at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Family Funeral Home.
