With deepest sorrow, we announce that Robert (Bob) Hanson, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 13,2023. Born October 11, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at Tinker Air Force Base to Dewey and Velma Hanson, he grew up and attended school in Norman, Oklahoma, then moved to Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Lindia on December 7, 1978 in Pampa, TX.
As a very young man he was an Eagle Scout, the highest most coveted award in all Scouting; the Code of Honor described him and carried throughout his life, “I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.” With these values, he learned to work hard, working for Halliburton for 20 years, followed by TXDOT for another 20 years, then retiring to do what he loved. This included, either reading Louis L’ Amour or watching the western channel, and spending time with family or friends. He was an avid cowboy, team roping in competition and with his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Lindia, son: Travis Hanson, daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Darrell Meissner, sisters: Beverly Hanson, Debra Cox and husband Donald, 4 grandchildren: Zach, Cory, Tyler, Sarah, niece and nephew Suzanne and James Hargrove, nephew Jared Cox, and a special great-granddaughter Charleigh.
Bob was preceded by his parents and his son Calvin Williams.
This strong, gentle, caring, and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be missed by many! He will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace, and unconditional love.
Please join us celebrating his life Saturday, August 19, 2023, 10 a.m. at Salt Branch Cowboy Church with Corey Smith officiating.
