Richard Alan Hamilton, 87, passed away at 10:30 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020.
Richard was born in Fenton, NY (Broome County) on November 23, 1932 to Joe and Peggy (Jordan) Hamilton and spent his childhood years on the family farm in Chenango Forks, NY.
Richard served as a medic in the US Army from 1953 to 1961 and then spent most of his adult years working as a lab and X-Ray technician.
While stationed near Abilene, TX, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Cleo (Wheeler) Hamilton of Noodle, TX on November 26, 1954.Richard and Cleo raised three children and enjoyed life together until Cleo passed in September 1994.
With his love for learning, Richard also made time during those child-raising years to pursue first a Bachelor's degree from McMurry College and then a Master's in business from Abilene Christian University.
After the loss of Cleo, Richard was blessed to meet and marry Geraldine Hamilton in 1996 who spent four years loving him and his children and grandchildren before passing away in 2000.
The Lord blessed Richard again when Bobbie Hartenstein danced into his life just a few years later. Richard and Bobbie were devoted companions until the end, each going home to the Lord within days of the other.
Richard is survived by daughters Ramona Wharton and husband Bruce and Pam McGuire and husband Lynn, grandchildren Michael and Ashley McGuire, and Rick and Philip Wharton, and sister Rose (Hamilton) McClure.
Richard was preceded in death by wives Cleo and Geri, son Richard Jr., his parents, and brothers David, Roger, Bob and George and sister Drusilla.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00PM Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Starbuck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2pm at Starbuck Funeral Home, 201 Edwards St/ Merkel, TX 79536. [https://www.starbuckfuneralhome.com/]
