Paula (Dela Cruz) Larkins

Paula De La Cruz Larkins, 85, of Merkel, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026 in Abilene, Texas.
Paula was born on March 20, 1941, in Lampasas, Texas, to Esequiel and Isabel De La Cruz. She dedicated 14 years of service to Merkel ISD as a custodian before retiring. She also proudly served as President of the Merkel VFW for many years and was a proud and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary, where she devoted countless hours to her community.
Above all else, Paula was the beloved matriarch and cornerstone of her family. She was a devoted mother to five daughters, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her unconditional love, strength, and guidance shaped generations, and her legacy will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ray De La Cruz; Olivia Borrego; Ubense De La Cruz; and her great-granddaughter, Loraina Woodward.
Paula is survived by her daughters, Donna Whitsel; JoAnn Rosado and husband Jose; Dianne Hernandez and husband Johnny; Linda Davis and husband Billy; and Michelle Ojeda and husband David. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were blessed by her love and wisdom.
Paula will always be remembered for her love of gardening, bowling, crocheting, and celebrating the holidays with family. Her warm smile, generous heart, and joyful spirit brought comfort and happiness to everyone around her. She cherished every moment spent with her family, and her love will remain in their hearts forever.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, resilience, and unwavering love that will never be forgotten.
