She was fortunate enough to have been coached by Ralph Newton in basketball, volleyball, and track. As a freshman, she scored the final two points of a winning state basketball championship. She won Sportsmanship awards two years in a row at Hardin Simmons basketball tournaments and making several all-tournament teams. As a senior, she was a Texas All State basketball player. On April 25, 1998, she married David Featherston. They have spent many years enjoying motorcycle adventures and ranching, with her favorite things at the ranch being the flowers and the big oak tree.
She is greatly loved by her fifteen nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews, some of which call her “Grandma Ann” and “Mimi”. Over the years, she has brought much laughter and joy to all their lives. She has been the bunny at Easter, the reindeer at Christmas, and who knows what she might show up as at Halloween. She was always cutting up and making everyone laugh. Her spirit of fun will be missed, although she has some nieces and nephews who are carrying on her traditions.
