Olga Louise Griggs Peachey, 92, of Merkel passed away on December 10, 2023 in Merkel, Texas.
Olga was born in Saginaw, Texas. She began school in Saginaw, but at the age of 12 moved to San Angelo and completed her education there when she graduated from Lakeview High School. She married George Raymond Peachey on May 5, 1950 in San Angelo. She was a devoted wife and mother. Olga was involved in various clubs including the Merkel Garden Club, Abilene Iris Society, Merkel Sewing Club, Red Hat Society, and the Dry Cow Society. She also volunteered for many years at the First Baptist Church Merkel, including VBS and helping with funeral dinners.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph Miles and Ora Clare Griggs; her husband George Raymond Peachey; and eldest son George Michael Peachey. She is also proceeded in death by her brothers: Joseph Miles Griggs Jr., Wilfred Griggs, and Harry Griggs.
She is survived by her daughter Beth Hackett, son Stephen Peachey and daughter Susan Moore and husband Maury Moore. Grandchildren are Aliya Boozari and Gabe Stevens, Sara and Jon McNeil, Levi Peachey, Jesse and Hillicia Peachey, Zachary Moore, Ethan Moore, and Maggie Moore. Great-grandchildren are Ruby McNeil and Cyrus Boozari Stevens.
Pallbearers will be Maury Moore, Zachary Moore, Ethan Moore, Levi Peachey, Jesse Peachey, and Jon McNeil. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Peachey, Danny Higgins, and Phil Jones.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 at First Baptist Church Merkel with James Marin, Chaplin of Kinder Hearts Hospice, officiating. Brian Simon, Pastor of First Baptist Church Merkel, will also assist in officiating the service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Merkel Cemetery Association.
