Micky Grimes, 84, of Merkel passed away Friday, October 7, 2022. She was born May 11, 1938 in Plainview, Texas to Forrest and Lucille (Denton) Armstrong. Micky loved quilting, her crafts, and shopping. She owned and operated a liquor store in Sweetwater for many years. She also worked at Walls in Merkel where she had the best time with her Walls Family. Mic had a heart of Gold, was very funny, and always made you laugh. She helped anyone who needed it. Mic was a long time member of First Baptist Church and loved helping with the funeral dinners. Mic is survived by her son Tom Southard and wife Sherry of Merkel; daughter Judy Rochelle and husband Stan of Arkansas; son Terry Berry of Bastrop; sisters Barbara Tipton and husband Bobby of Lubbock, Vicki Sutton and husband John of Amarillo, Patsy Vincent of Lubbock, and Jo Ann Armstrong of Merkel; brothers Jerry Armstrong and wife Karen of Lubbock, Charles Armstrong and wife Arlene of Midland, and Jimmy Armstrong and wife Chris of Radcliff, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Grimes; parents Forrest and Lucille Armstrong; brother Bobby Armstrong; sister Joy Armstrong; and grandson Lee Southard. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00PM Monday, October 10, 2022 at Starbuck Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
