April 23, 1945 ~ January 22, 2024 (age 78) 78 Years Old
Linda Kelley Jones of Abilene, TX passed away on Monday, January 22 in Abilene.
Linda was born in Taylor County to William T. Kelley and Bracie Viola Sharp Kelley on April 23, 1945. She graduated from Clyde High School and later attended University of California, Berkeley. She married Tom Jones of Trent, TX on March 21, 1981 in a small family service in the new home they had built in Merkel. She worked as an administrator for the Texas Employment Commission for over 30 years after a very brief stint as a public school teacher. She was a world traveler and avid reader. She and Tom have both been members of the Trent United Methodist Church for many years and were active until their declining health prevented their attendance.
She was preceded in death by her parents of Clyde and a niece of Austin, TX.
Linda is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom Jones of Abilene; 3 sisters, Peggy Nunally and Betty Allison both of Abilene, and Connie Kelley of Austin and 2 nephews.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at the Trent Methodist Church. Funeral Services will follow visitation and begin at 2:00 p.m., also at the Trent Methodist Church with Jeff Pleasant and Cody Petree officiating. Burial will follow at Trent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Family Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Trent Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. The family of Linda Jones wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Louie & Juanita Valdez and Clara Sanchez for their unending love and care for Linda the past several years. Their constant devotion allowed Linda to remain safely in her home for as long as possible.
