Laura Mae Gilbert of Tye, Texas passed away on November 23, 2025 in Abilene, Texas.
Laura was born in Tye, Texas to Gene and Ruth Cade on July 22,1930. She attended school at Trent Schools. She later married the love of her life Robert Carol Gilbert and was married to him until his death in 2004. Laura worked at SAMS as a hospitality specialist until her retirement in 2003 after 26 years to care for her spouse and family. From that time on she became the backbone and heart of the family, caring for all and turning away none. When not taking care of family she could be found in the front yard taking care of the rose bushes and her other multiple flowers that were her pride and joy.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Ruth Cade and her spouse RC Gilbert.
Laura is survived by Daughters Lynn Stonehouse(Bob), Gena Reeder and partner John Scott, Stephanie Lebowitz(Scott). Grandchildren: Robert(Nicole) McAnelly, Jimmy (Darlene) McAnelly, Becca (Terry)Culbreath, Tiffany(Brandon) Boisjolie, Brandon Stonehouse, Tanner (Shylo)Reeder, Christian Stonehouse, Bill (Lindsey) Dakan, and Kody Dakan. Laura was blessed in this life by fourteen great-grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren with the arrival of the twelfth to be in April.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced at the Tye Baptist Church and burial will be beside her husband in the Tye Cemetery.
