Kris Cullum

Kris Cullum, 40, of Merkel, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020. A service is not planned at this time. Arrangements by Starbuck Funeral Home. Kris was born February 18, 1980 in Abilene to Belinda Perry and Chris Freeman. He graduated from Merkel High School in 1998 and served in the U.S. Army for four years. He worked in the wind energy industry for the last 15 years, including 12 for Run Energy. He enjoyed fishing, riding Harley-Davidsons and spending time with his wife and kids. He was an amazing husband, dad, son, brother and uncle. He also was an amazing coach. He coached both of his sons in many sports along with many other Merkel kids. He would give his shirt off his back to help anyone. He never met a stranger. He was loved and will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Amanda Porter-Cullum of Merkel; three children, Taylor, Kyler and MaKayla Cullum; sister, Candise and her husband Cory Canales of Abilene; brother, William Cullum; his parents, of Merkel; uncle, Willie Perry of Merkel; nephew, C.J. Canales of Abilene; and many cousins and friends.
