Jonathan Cuellar Obituary

Jonathan Ray Cuellar, a skilled lineman with Taylor Electric Coop and a life-long resident of Merkel, Texas passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2021 at the age of 25. Jonathan was born in Abilene, Texas on April 22, 1996. He graduated from Merkel High School in 2014 but continued to claim Purple and Gold well after high school. On new years of 2017 Jonathan met the love of his life. On the very first day he voiced how “she would be his wife”, after four months of courting he made his dream reality and he married Krystal on April 20, 2017. Jonathan was a devoted father, husband, son, brother, friend, team-mate and co-worker. He enjoyed being a lineman and his work brought him great satisfaction. Playing with his kids and seeing their smile always brightened his days. He loved sports, and especially loved reminiscing on his football days with his team-mates and friends. He was also a problem solver who often took on difficult situations and was willing to do anything to help a friend. Jonathan was the kind of guy who made everyone feel like they were best friends. He had a personal joke with just about everyone. He loved having cookouts just to have a reason to get everyone gathered. He had a huge heart, especially for children. Jonathan never met a kid who didn’t adore him. Jonathan was fun loving, energetic, spiritual, and an amazing singer. He had a smile that would light up every room he walked into. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. Survivors include his wife Krystal Cuellar; children Alyssa Jimenez, Jayden Jimenez, McKenzie Cuellar, Jaedin Cuellar, Emma Cuellar, Jax Cuellar, and Jace Cuellar; parents Cynthia Ann Cuellar and Lewis Cuellar, Sr. and his wife Lorena; grandparents Silveria Velasquez and Pedro Velasquez, Jr, and Juan and Maria Cuellar; siblings Lewis Cuellar, Jr., Sarah Smith, Lydia Gallegos and Maria Gallegos; aunts and uncles Les and Teresa White, Juan Cuellar, Jr. and Leslie, Cecilia Segura, Juan Segura, Sylvia Marisol Luckie and Jay Luckie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jonathan was preceded in death by his great grandparents Eristeo and Rita Garza. Visitation will be held at Starbuck Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
