Jimmy Raymond Risinger, 85, went home to be with the Lord the evening of March 5, 2021.
Jimmy was born September 8, 1935 to Joe and Mable (Toombs) Risinger
Jimmy served in the United State Army in the late 1950’s. While stationed in Alaska he earned multiple patches for the miles he had to ski. He also climbed many glaciers. He just could not understand why there were mosquitos in the state of Alaska.
Jimmy loved baseball and football. He could play all the baseball organ music.
He was never married nor had children of his own. He was the most caring Uncle in the world to all his nieces and nephews. He was a care giver to our Grandmother for many years. He moved to San Antonio in the late 1990’s to live with his cousin and help her care for his Aunt and Uncle. Years later he and his cousin Betty Lu moved to a retirement living facility in Abilene so that they would be closer to another cousin Jocille Brady so she could tend to his extra needs. In 2014 he was moved to Granbury into a retirement facility so that his Niece Vivian McDaniel would be close and take him to the end of his journey on this earth.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; sister Daisy Jorene Winter; niece Sue Ann Redford
Jimmy is survived by his nieces; Vivian (Bryan) McDaniel of Granbury, TX , Donna (Clyde) Weatherman, Betty Jo (Randy) Smith, nephew Ray Winter (Secilia) Winter all of Odessa, TX; 11 Great nieces and nephews; 27 Great-Great nieces and nephews; 10 Great-Great-Great Nieces and Nephews; very special cousin Jocille (John) Brady of Merkel, TX and numerous cousins.
Services for Jimmy will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel, TX. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
