Jewel Henager

Jewel Laverne (Holt) Henager, 93, of Merkel, Texas passed away November 11, 2022.

Jewel was born May 23, 1929 in Crockett, TX, to Albert and Willie (Morgan) Holt. She was married to Robert Henager in Port Isable, Texas. She lived in Robinson, TX for 27 years before moving to Merkel. Jewel was a teacher, volunteered for Precious Pearls Hospice, and an active member of the Methodist Church. She was practical, loved chocolate, cooking, enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren, and reminiscing about the past with old friends, but most of all her smile could light up any room.

Jewel is survived by her grandchildren: Rowdy (Denice) White of Lubbock, Rocky (Felicia) White of Merkel, and Rusty White of Clyde. Her great-grandchildren: Sarah, Riley, Aerilyn, and Branson, sister-in-law Ruth Holt, her cousin Irene Burnum of Ft. Stockton, and many nephews.

Jewel is preceded by:  her parents Albert and Willie, husband Robert, daughter Iris White, and siblings: Mark, Catherine, Dorothy, and Horace.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 7PM Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 10:00AM at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, TX at 3:00PM. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
