Jeffrey "Jeff" Wilkerson

Jeffrey “Jeff” Daniel Wilkerson, 49, of Merkel, Texas, passed away on 18 th January 2026 at his home, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Jeff was born in Ennis Texas to Melba “Jan” Dohogne and Jimmie Wilkerson on 29th June 1976. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who lived life to bring happiness to all whom he loved. He attended Merkel High School. If something could be worked on with your hands, Jeff excelled at it. He had multiple careers spanning the automotive, landscaping, construction, and natural gas industries. Inherently a hard worker, he strived to support and better provide for his family. Jeff worked a litany of odd jobs for people around the community. He had an exceptionally green thumb, and loved tending his lawn, flowers, and trees. Jeff had an enthusiasm for music and movies, always watching or listening to something new in his free time. Animals were a large part of Jeff’s life, he always had multiple pets. Jeff was a giver, always sharing whenever and whatever he could give, and enjoyed quality time with friends and family.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Wilkerson, and brother Kevin Lusk.

Jeff is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Jennifer Jennings; His three children, son Stetsyn Jennings and wife Miranda Rex of Denton, Texas, son Dustin Wilkerson of Merkel, Texas, daughter Sidney Wilkerson of Justin, Texas; Brothers John Hall and Jason Wilkerson, both of Merkel, Texas; Mother, Jan Dohogne of Merkel, Texas; Grandson Kai Biddle of Tye, Texas, several nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends, all of whom he loves deeply.

To respect Jeff’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of one, the family will host a celebration of life at a time and place to be determined. In the meantime, please feel free to privately celebrate Jeff in your own way and share memories with the family.
