James McLean Holley, age 70, passed from this life on Friday, January 28, 2022. He was born on January 8, 1952 in Key West, FL to James Franklin Holley and Pauline Eugenia McLean Holley.
James attended Arizona State University and graduated from the Naval Nuclear Power Program for submarines. James proudly served our country on the USS Pintado. He served for 4 years and 4 months and was honorably discharged in 1976 as an E6. He was married to Susan Kathleen Riley, sister of Charmaigne Riley who is married to James Holley’s brother, Eugene McLean Holly. He was a self-employed business owner of Screen Specialists and S&J Wholesale, where they manufactured window treatments, sold screen wholesale materials and manufactured rod iron gates, doors and ornamental iron.
James was a member of the NHRA Drag Racing Association, as well as the MOW (Military Order of World Wars) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed camping, restoring old vehicles, building new things, road biking, sailing, all sorts of boats and vehicles, and loved fixing things that were broken.
He is survived by his daughters: Jennifer Rose Rodgers from Chandler, AZ and Sara Chelsea Gonzalez from Chiang Mai, Thailand.
James is reunited in Heaven with his parents: James and Pauline Holley.
A visitation with Military Honors will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel.
