Guadalupe (Rodriguez) Ascencio

Guadalupe (Rodriguez) Ascencio, age 71, passed from this life on November 3, 2021 in San Marcos, TX. She was born on January 12, 1950 in Coleman, TX to Gilberto Rodriguez and Anita (Diaz) Rodriguez.

Guadalupe was a loving mother, sister and grandmother and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her two sons: Sebastian Ascencio and wife Angela, and their children: Dalton and Ryder Ascencio of Fischer, TX; and Robert Ascencio of Abilene and his son: Gabriel; and the late Eric and Alyssa Ascencio’s children: Mia and Jacob Ascencio; four siblings: Gilbert Rodriguez, Virginia Gonzalez, Martin Rodriguez and Joe Rodriguez, all of Abilene; and numerous other extended family members.

She raised her sons in Merkel, TX and served as mother figure to many of their friends. She owned and operated Los Ascencio’s Family Restaurant through which she fed the bodies and souls of the community.

She is reunited in Heaven with her son: Eric Ascencio and daughter-in-law: Alyssa Ascencio; and siblings: Willie, Frank and Robert Rodriguez.

A Rosary and viewing will be held from 8am to 10am, on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Merkel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Our Mother of Mercy. Arrangements are entrusted to Starbuck Funeral Home.
