Geraldine Jinkens Dunlap of Merkel went home to Jesus on December 7th, 2025.
Gerrie was born in Noodle, Texas to Lenard and Ruby Belle Jinkens on July 20th, 1929. She was the younger sister of Dorothy Jinkens Gilmore and the older sister to Bobby Jinkens. She graduated in 1946 from Merkel High School. Gerrie married Jeff Dunlap in June of 1949 in Merkel, to whom she remained married for 27 years. She worked as the payroll clerk for Merkel High School for over 25 years, where she made many friends.
Gerrie is survived by her son Rick Dunlap, and daughters Rebecca Berry and Angela Klein. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her son-in-law Joe Klein and her grandsons Brad Berry, Rowdy Dunlap, Matthew Jordan, Scott Berry and Cody Berry.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday December 10th, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Abilene with pastor Joshua Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with family. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
