We are deeply saddened to announce George Franklin (Johnny) Woods lV went home to be with Jesus, his mother Barbara, and his sister Gayle, on Sunday, August the 7th 2022 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
Johnny was born on July 16, 1959 to Barbara Ann Elliott and George Woods III in Merkel, Texas. He grew up in View, Texas and graduated from Wylie High School in 1977. He worked for Independent Grocers for 27 years, then went on to work as a supervisor at Home Depot and retired in 2020. He was an advocate for the AIDS research and community in Abilene Texas, and volunteered within the Abilene community. He loved decorating, and enjoyed arts and crafts. He was truly and amazing artist. Johnny helped his sister Gayle raise her two children, Molly and Megan, and their children. He enjoyed being their Uncle/Great uncle, as well as their father and grandfather figure.
He is preceded in death by his father George, his mother Barbara, and his sister Erlinda Gayle Woods.
He is survived by his beloved niece Molly Bryant and her husband Ron Monreal, and their daughters Kadence and Natalee Monreal of Abilene, Texas, beloved niece Megan Galle, and her children Rylee and Ana McCormick, Jacob Nichols, and husband Brandon Galle of Merkel, Texas, brothers Jeff and Lloyd Woods and their families of Missouri, plus numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins
He was known by many as Uncle, and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Visitation will be Saturday August 13, 2022 at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel, TX from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. He will be laid to rest next to his sister Gayle at Drummond Cemetery in View, TX at a later date.
