Mike “TooTall” Callas left this world on November 30, 2022 at his home in Merkel, Texas with his devoted wife by his side. TooTall was born to George Elmo Callas and Elizabeth Cawthon on November 3, 1943 in Plainview, Texas.
Mike attended Hale Center High School and Sul Ross State University. TooTall married Laura Janie Callas on November 15, 2003 where they enjoyed their life together in Merkel, Texas.
TooTall had a passion for horses and prided himself in being a true cowboy. TooTall enjoyed life and loved to tell stories and exagerated tales. He never took life too seriously and loved to have a good time with friends and family, cutting up the dancefloor. Too Tall made a life for himself doing what he loved and loving those in his life, and never missed a chance to tell you that.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, George Callas, mother, Elizabeth Cawthon, grandson Bailey Roush and Chrissy Fields.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Janie Callas, daughter(s) Beth Callas and husband, Sam, Laura Copeland and husband Scott, Amy Wynn and husband Lloyd, Joyce Thibodeaux and husband Josh, Kathy Olney and husband Danny, Amanda Agerton and husband Justin, and son David Claxton and wife Laura.
Mike leaves behind numerous grandchildren, Jimmy Fields and wife, Paige Roush, Rami Hunt and husband Joshua, Jaycee Cooper and husband Shavaris, McKayla Olney, Wade Copeland, Gaven Olney, Julie Wynn, Meka Fields, CJ Walcott and WhitLee Olney, as well as great-grandchildren Antonia, Silas. Jordan, Brazos, and Coltyn. Mike is also survived by his brothers, Dean Callas and wife Cherry, Dallas Callas and wife Cindy, Tom Callas and John Callas and wife Robin and one sister, Tennie Ingrem and husband David. Too Tall is also survived by his life-long friends, John and BJ Nanny, Jimmy and Beth Davis, Howdy Fowler and John Foresight.
