Eric Thomas Hernandez

Eric Thomas Hernandez, 43, of Abilene, Texas passed away on February 14, 2023 in Abilene.

Eric was born in Abilene, Texas to Amelia Hernandez on May 5, 1979. He graduated from Cooper High School. He was a driller for Blue Line Drilling and was a skilled craftsman. His hobbies included drawing, tattooing, and carpentry. Eric enjoyed listening to country music and being with his family. Eric had recently been baptized on May 22, 2021 and was a true follower of Christ.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother Amelia Hernandez, brother Ricky Silva, sister Angelica Silva, grandparents Justo and Juanita Hernandez, and five cousins.

Eric is survived by his significant other, Tasha Stephens, son Justo Hernandez, sisters Sandra Melendez, Alicia Nevarez, and Anna Juarez, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be his cousins: Adam Hernandez, Mark Moreno, Ismael Moreno, and Mathew Valdez, and close friends Don Lively and Brandon Blue. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews Isaiah Garcia and Gunner Cortez.  

Visitation will be held at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel, Texas on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Merkel. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
