Elmo Enoch Knight Jr., 79, of Haskell, TX, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 20, 2022 in Abilene, Texas. He was born October 22, 1943 in Sledge, Mississippi to Elmo Knight Sr. and Bertha (Young) Knight.
Elmo was married to the love of his life, Faye (Server) Bennigfield Knight. He was shadetree mechanic, plumber, and election. When he was not working he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Elmo is survived by his wife, Faye (Server) Bennigfield Knight; brother James Knight of Oxford, MS; sister Faye Whitney of Oklahoma City, OK; step-son Kevie Benningfield of Deer Park, TX; step-daughters Susan Laird of Lawn, TX and Brenda Blackburn of Seguin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmo and Bertha Knight; brother Robert Knight; sisters: Wilma, Ruby, and Bonnie; and step-son Samuel Benningfield. Pallbearers are Greg Taylor, Nathan Berkley, James Jeffcoat, Marvin Blackburn, Steven Blackburn, Russell Beisert, with honorary pallbearer Dale Middlebrook.
Visitation will be held at Haskell Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 until 5:00 PM and Friday, November 25, at 10:00 AM at Paint Creek Baptist Church. Services will be at 1:00 PM at Paint Creek Baptist Church, followed by a burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, TX. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
