Edwin Robert Evers of Merkel passed away on Sunday, April 5th in Abilene, Texas.
Ed was born on January 31, 1957 in Spokane, Washington to Arlow Evers and Rosemary Lessard. He graduated in 1975 from Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam where he was part of the wrestling team, drama department and art department. He continued his love for art throughout his life, loving to draw creative landscapes to share with family and friends and loved taking photos of wildlife and vegetation. He was the family photographer at all sporting events and family gatherings capturing memories throughout his grandchildren’s lives.
He married Golda Marie Autrey in May of 1987 and remained devoted until her passing on January 8th, 2024. He served in the Airforce as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician of the C130 and was employed at the Abilene State School serving those with disabilities thereafter.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Golda Marie Evers and parents Arlow and Rosemary Evers.
He is survived by his daughter Susan Ann Evers, stepdaughter Sharon Faglie and husband Brent, stepson Michael Riley and wife Trina; Siblings, Tom Evers, Ron Evers, Tim Evers and Beckie Davy; Grandchildren Kristi “Leon" Kunz, Justen Kunz, Brad Leard, Cody Vickers, Clay Vickers, Christina Lazansky, Jessika Henson, Justin Riley, Tanner Riley, Trace Riley; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the Texas State Veterans emetery of Abilene located at 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX at 3:00PM on Thursday April 9th with Ryan Henson officiating.
