Edward "Leon" Davis Obituary

Edward “Leon” Davis, 79 years old, of Tye, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Abilene, Texas.

Leon was born in Clinton, Oklahoma to Leonard Warren Davis and Pauline Shockley Davis. He was the third of ten kids. After walking across the stage, at Cheyenne High School in Cheyenne, OK, he jumped in his car and drove to Tye, TX to join his brothers.

On May 27, 1968, Leon married the love of his life of 56 years, Leona Ruth Frisbie, at which he had known since she was 7 years old.

Leon worked with his brothers at Exxon, and after he married, he started to work for Pepsi/Dr. Pepper. Later he moved on to almost 40 years of his truck driving career. He worked for Ennis Transportation, Lone Star, then later he became an owner/operator in 2000, leasing for Bilbo Transportation.

He was a member of United Pentecostal Church, in Abilene, TX. He later became a member of Faith Tabernacle in Tye, TX, where he and Leona raised their three daughters. He was a self-taught guitarist. He played in church and on Saturday nights for his wife at the Senior Citizens Musicals. Leon enjoyed tube fishing as well as bank fishing. He loved his family, his church but most of all his Savior.

He loved to aggravate his wife, he eased up on her once his children were born, and he didn’t stop when his grandchildren were born. Although he enjoyed 45 years of all girls, he was overjoyed when his grandson arrived. He was more excited to pass on his orneriness to him.

Leon was preceded in death by both his parents, his two brothers, Alvie Lloyd and wife Martha Louise Davis of Clyde, Tx, and Vernon Doyal Davis, Sr. of Tye, Tx and sister Andra Davis and her husband Chuck Talbot of Houston, Tx.

Leon is survived by his wife Leona Davis of Tye, daughters: Jennifer Davis Hunt (Jessie) of Merkel, Tx; Heather Davis of Tye, Tx; Jaime Davis Canada of Tye, Tx. Brothers Mike and Richard Davis, sisters Joyce Boyett, Sandra Willborn, Paulette Maynard and Thressa Hansen. Grandchildren: Kirsten Hunt, Karlee Hale (Quinton), Kenley Balaban (Alex), Avery Davis-Taylor, Kingston Farris, and one great grandson, Leon will be smiling from heaven when he arrives in June 2025, Bennet Balaban.
