Doris Peterson

Doris Rebecca Peterson, 93, of Merkel went home to her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2020 in Abilene, TX. Doris was born on October 6, 1926 in Durham, NC to Gaston Robert George and Addie McDade George. She married Edgar Lewis Peterson, Sr. on December 22, 1944 in Durham, NC. They moved to Texas in 1945. She was a stay at home mom until she went to work at CG Conn, engraving instruments and worked 20 years there. She then went to Abilene Independent School District until she retired. She loved to sew, work puzzles and fish; but her greatest joy was spending time supporting her great-grandchildren’s adventures. She was the best mom, grandma, GG and aunt that showed what the true meaning of love and kindness was. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Doris is survived by her daughter Donna Peterson Casper and son-in-law Victor Casper of Merkel; and a daughter-in-law Sandy Peterson of Leander, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Stacey Tasted (Chris), David Casper (Robin), Brandy Porter (Keith), Chad Peterson, Mikel Peterson (Rachel), and Heather Peterson; great-grandchildren Justin Ray (Alisha), Brookelyn Casper, Kyla Porter, Harley Casper, Kinley Corley, Wyatt Peterson; one great-great-grandson Nolan Ray and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three sons Butch, Gary and Robert; three brothers Thomas George, Wallace George, and Julian George; and three sisters Nita Ketner, Lois Olive, and Edna Eakes. Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM Monday, August 31, 2020 at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
