Donald Roy Alcorn

Donald Roy (Don) Alcorn, 68, of Merkel, passed away in Abilene on Saturday, February 27, 2021. He was born December 2, 1952 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to James Thomas and Lillie Mae (Griffin) Alcorn. Don attended Odessa High School. He was employed with Mrs. Baird’s Bakery and also worked as a long haul truck driver. He was a long time member of Builder’s Baptist Church. Don is survived by his son John Alcorn and his children of Odessa; daughter Jennifer Alcorn of Merkel; and brother Dale Alcorn and his wife Carole of Merkel. He is also survived by Nancy Alcorn who helped take care of Don over the last several years. Don was preceded in death by his mother and father. Viewing will be held from 8:00AM to 6:00PM on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Roby Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels.
