Don Wylie Helms

Don Wylie Helms, 90, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at home. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 20, at 10:00 am at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home. Don was born October 11, 1932 in Hamlin, Texas to the late Alva and O’Retha (Warner) Helms. Don married Jeanette Hurd on October 24, 1952. He served his country in the army during the Korean War. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, his parents Alfa and O’Retha Helms, a daughter Ann Carol Helms, a granddaughter Kimberly Diane Heinze, grandson Trenton Robinson, great grandson Barrett Branch, sister Billie Lowe, sister Martha Jo McCoy and brother Bobby Helms. Don is survived by his son Matt Helms and wife Marina of Abilene, daughter Diane Branch and husband Ken of Weatherford, daughter Donna Heinze and husband Harold of San Antonio; eight grandchildren Nicole Helms, Joshua Helms, Craig Heinze and wife Alicia, Karis Bouillon and husband Bill, Nathan Heinze and fiancée Elizabeth Seitter, Jared Branch and wife Samantha, Andrew Branch and wife Tara, Kellye Tillford and husband Joshua; ten great grandchildren. Don’s greatest love was his wife, Jeanette, children, and grandchildren. Next to family was his love to fish. He will be missed by his many friends and the people whose lives he touched.
