Denver Bob Byrd, 85, of Rochester, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Denver was born in Rochester on July 26, 1939 to George Henry and Mary Land Byrd. He went to school at Rochester, Texas. He worked in Graham, Texas for the Zack Burkett Company as their heavy machinery mechanic. At different times he would fly to larger cities but Denver’s place was not in the hustle and bustle of cities, his place was in the peaceful fields of the country. After several years of working in Graham he returned to Rochester where he farmed for the remainder of his life. Farming was Denver’s gift, the country was his home, for Denver was a steward of the land. While in Rochester Denver met the love of his life and married Patsy Acuna, who he affectionately referred to as “mama”.
Denver was preceded in death by his father and mother and 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Denver is survived by his wife Patsy Byrd. Stepdaughter Kay and husband Sam Day of Rowden, Texas, Stepdaughter Michelle Ortiz and husband Joe Ortiz of Phoenix, Arizona and two grandchildren Jacob and Shelby Ortiz of Phoenix, and many nieces and nephews. Denver will be greatly missed by his family.
