Dayne Ambrose Swinney, 87, passed away on August 17, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas.
Dayne was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Charley and Icel Ambrose on January 8, 1938. She started school in Denver City, TX, and finished in Trent, TX. After one year of college, she married J. B. Swinney on June 9, 1956, in Abilene, TX. She worked as an office manager for several oil companies in Hobbs, NM.
Dayne was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Ambrose, Jr., her sister Marilyn Lamb, and her husband of 67 years, J. B.
Dayne is survived by her daughter, Tammy Chamberlain and husband Jon, and her son Jay Swinney and wife Martha. Her grandchildren are Cody Jenkins and wife Crystal, Leslee Schneider and husband Jason, Lauren Hernandez and husband Pat, David Swinney and Sam Swinney. She had 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Syra Patterson and husband Jerry Frank, four nieces and two nephews.
Pallbearers will be Cody Jenkins, Jason Schneider, Brayden Jenkins, Jordan Swinney, Levi Schneider, and Brody Jenkins.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, August 30, at Starbuck Funeral Home with Lisa Peterson of Trent First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Trent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Trent, TX. The family of Dayne wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Brayden Park Assisted Living staff and Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo.
