David Leon Clyburn

David Leon Clyburn, 60, of Merkel passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He was born on March 3, 1961 in Merkel, Texas to Wanda (Thompson) Clyburn and Curtis Duke Clyburn. David grew up in Merkel and attended Merkel High School. David married Vicki Armstrong in March 1988. The two enjoyed many years of marriage before her death. David worked as a welder his entire life; there are many projects in and around Merkel that he has worked on. David loved fishing with father Bill Watkins and enjoyed Sunday morning drives while listening to church with George Blankenship Survivors include his: mother Wanda Watkins of Abilene; sister Marsha Crane (Dennis) of Clyde; brother Don Clyburn of Abilene; son Tim Clyburn (Christian) of Merkel; son Jason Clyburn (Jenny) of Baird; son Curtis Clyburn (Fiancé Rachel Parker) of Kansas; daughter Ashley Pool (Miles) of Granbury; four Grandsons; and two Granddaughters David was preceded in death by his: wife Vicki Clyburn; and fathers Curtis Clyburn and Bill Watkins. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, June 11, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church in Merkel. A memorial Service will be held at 10:30AM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Hendrick Hospice or to The Cancer Services Network.
