David Allen Claxton, 45, of Merkel Texas, passed away on August 28th, 2024, at his home in Merkel.
David was born in Abilene, Texas to Janie Lindsey and Cody Claxton on February 7th, 1979. David went to school in Trent, Texas. He later graduated from Hobbs High School. He was single. David worked in the oil field off and on most of his adult life for Quail Well Service, Wes-Tex Drilling, and Ringo Drilling, as well as took on work for FEMA, hauling new homes for survivors in New Orleans, Louisiana after hurricane Katrina, for two years. He also carried out handy work for several local friends and family. David took pride in collecting and selling baseball, basketball, and football cards.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, V.H. and Mary Lindsey, Daniel and Mildred Claxton, his father Cody Claxton and step-father Mike ‘TooTall’ Callas and many of his close friends.
David is survived by his mother Laura Jane ‘Janie’ Callas, his children Dylan Ray Claxton and Stephanie Smith, Alicia and Justin King, Seth Allen Claxton, Victoria Nicole Pippin and Rocky Underwood, Cloe Ann Claxton, Jacob David Miller and Erin Matlack, and Domingo Daniel Miller. His grandchildren Coltyn Jowers and Brazos and Jordan Christie. His paternal sisters Maegan, Amanda, Breanna, and Adrianne Spencer, stepsisters Beth Callas and Sam, Laura Copeland and Scott, Amy Wynn and Lloyd, Cathy and Danny Olney, Amanda and Justin Agerton. And many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at 5:30pm at his home in Merkel. Services are not open to the public. The family asked that you bring your own lawn chair.
