Daniel "Danny" Ray Doan

Daniel Ray Doan 81, of Merkel, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home in Merkel, Texas.

Danny was born September 28, 1943 in Merkel, Texas to Clayton and Melba (Shugart) Doan. Danny graduated from Merkel High School. He worked in the electrical supply business and several golf courses during his life. He enjoyed playing golf and all of the friendships made along the way.

Danny is survived by his son Ricky Doan (Jennifer) of Merkel, Texas; daughter Misti Hays (Lynn) of Merkel, Texas; grandson Jaiton Hays; granddaughter Kinzi Hays Petty (Hunter); grandson Channing Doan; great-grandsons Kayson Hays and Hays Petty. Danny is also survived by brother Mikey Doan (Ann); sister Nelda Toliver; brother Donnie Doan (Joyce); brother Tommy Doan (Mary); sister Terry Sue Wiggins (Keith); sister Mary Ann Herd; sister Nancy Davenport; sister Judy Lloyd (Robert); brother Jeff Doan (Lana); brother Johnny Doan (Tammy); brother Mark Doan; brother Tim Doan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Kathy Doan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and special friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Melba Doan, brother Philip Doan, brother-in-law Jim Toliver and brother-in-law Mitch Herd.

Per Danny’s wishes, there will not be a service. Memorials may be given to: Hendrick Hospice Care, PO Box 1922, Abilene, Texas 79601.
