Cindy Hamner Obituary

Cindy Lou “Ru” Hamner, 61, passed away on September 27th, 2020, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene TX. She was born on March 16th, 1959, to her loving parents Jerry and Patsy (Gregory) Byrd in Merkel TX. Cindy was born and raised right here in Merkel, TX. Being the country girl she was, riding her horse to school was nothing out of the ordinary. Cindy loved the game of basketball and could play the game quite well. She was basketball player for Merkel High School until she graduated in 1977. After high school, her adventures were just beginning. Spending time in Alaska and seeing the northern lights to Arlington where she met some of her dearest forever friends. Cindy married Bill Hamner in June of 1982 and together had 2 daughters Cortnee and Abby. Graduating form TSTI Sweetwater with her LVN in 1991, Cindy became of the most compassionate, skilled and trusted nurse around. Fixing broken bones, sliced fingers, minor “booboos” to major “what did you dos?”. If Cindy wasn’t healing the sick, then she was watching the water wiggle at her little slice of heaven. The lake. Her favorite place to be was on the water, driving a boat with all her babies big and small, laughing and having a blast. She would pull you skiing, tubing, knee boarding until the gas ran out, then refill the tank and do it again. Our RU knew how to have a good time with her babies or her best friends, The PK Ladies! Cindy is survived by her parents Jerry and Patsy Byrd of Merkel TX; sister Suzanne Lovelace & husband Alan of Merkel, TX; daughters Cortnee Bryant of Merkel, TX and Abby Doan of Merkel, TX; Grandbabies Darbi Doan and Madison Doan, Seth Bryant and Carah Bryant; Great Grandbaby Londyn Lynn Perry; And an abundance of loving friends. Cindy is proceeded in death by her grand parents JB & Lavelle Gregory and Alvin & Sarah Byrd. There will be private graveside rites for the family held, but there will be a Memorial for Cindy Lou to be announced in weeks to come.
