Carlton Ray King

Carlton "Ray" King, 62 from Trent, Texas left this earth Monday July 26,2021. Ray was born August 28, 1958 at the Saddler Clinic in Merkel, TX to Everett Carlton and Genevieve (Cox) King. Ray graduated from Merkel High School class of 1976. Ray joined the Merkel Volunteer Fire Department in 1975 which started a dedicated lifelong career. He was a certified firefighter, EMT and was currently the Fire Chief of Trent Volunteer Fire Department. He was a charter member of Merkel EMS and an Honorary member or Merkel Volunteer Fire Department. Ray Married Paula Crouse June 10, 1976 in Merkel. Ray was an avid hunter, fisherman. He loved to camp and spend time with his family and especially his two grand kids and dogs! Ray is survived by his wife of 45 years, Paula, Son Paul (Casey) King of Sweetwater, Daughter Tamera (Gordon) Pippin of McCaulley. Two grand kids, Raylene and Hunter. His two dogs Berkeley James and Sadie Lou, and many nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill and nephew Billy King. Visitation will be held at Starbuck Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 5:00-7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at Trent Baptist Church, 201 N Main, on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 2:00PM officiated by Chaplin Snuffy Canon and Brother Chris Crouse. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, TX In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Trent VFD or to Rose Hill Cemetery.
