Bobby Wayne Barbee

Bobby Wayne Barbee, 76, of Lake Worth passed away Wednesday August 24th , 2022 at his home with his loving wife at his side.

Bobby was born March 23rd, 1946 in Merkel, TX. to A.J. and Sue Barbee. He attended school in Noodle, TX. Bobby had a gift for “Gab” and this served him well during his career as a salesman, truck driver and business owner. These careers blessed him with many lifelong friends. Throughout his life, Bobby had a passion for all sports and outdoor activities. During his first marriage, the family regularly spent quality time together camping, hunting, fishing, water skiing and traveling. Bobby’s typical weekend included challenging his mother and sister to a competitive game of dominos. Bobby took pride in his children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors. He cheered them on with a big smile on his face. He was always available to hand out great advice. After Bobby raised his children and moved to the Metroplex, he met his love and soulmate, Bertie Briggs. They married April 29, 1999 on her birthday. Bobby was then blessed with three daughters, one son, and a supportive extended family. Bobby and Bertie spent a lot of time traveling with frequent “rest stops” at the Casinos.

Bobby is survived by his wife Bertie Barbee, son Scott Taggart and wife Farrah of Oklahoma; son Chad Taggart of Bangs, TX; daughter Sheila Barbee-Smith and husband Phil of Brownwood, TX; Angel Williams and husband Brian of Kennedale, TX; Cheryl Chamberlain and husband Walt of North Richland Hills, TX; Kim Williams and husband Kenneth of Maryland. Sisters Darla Moore of Ferris, TX; Beverly Martin and husband Gene of Fort Worth, TX. Grandkids: Kelli, Sarah, Sean, Vivie, Markus, Ashley, Courtney, Zackary, Zayden, Jaxon, Keith, Mark, Cassie, Ericka, Mary, Chris, Brittany, Wesley, Dustin, Jordan. Several cousins, nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, AJ and Sue Barbee, sister Betty Perry, brother in law, Gary Moore, step sons William and Buddy Briggs, and granddaughter Natalie Gonzales.

Pallbearers to include Scott and Chad Taggart, Zack Smith, Don Gary, Gary Moore, Jr, Terry Coody, Mark Chamberlain, Chris Williams with honorary pallbearer Rick Gary.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept 2nd, 2022 from 5 to 7pm at Starbuck funeral home located at 201 Edwards Street in Merkel, TX. Celebration of life memorial service to be held Saturday, Sept 3rd, 2022 at 11:00 am at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Merkel Cemetery.
