Billy Martin Obituary

Billy Joe Martin Jr., was born on November 28, 1961 in San Angelo to Billy Joe Martin Sr. and Shirley Ann Barnett. He grew up in San Angelo and Abilene. He married Tina McCoy on May 9, 1981.

On December 28, 2021, Billy Joe Martin Jr. of Merkel, TX, lost his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years; Tina Martin; four children: Terri Martin of Abilene, Bo and Tara Martin of Kyle, and Michael Martin of Merkel; four grandchildren: CJ and Gage Driffill and Ava and Luke Martin; his father: Billy Joe Martin Sr. of Abilene and three brothers: Tommy Lee of Clyde, Paul Martin of Abilene, and Jesse Martin of Hawley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Shirley Ann Barnett of Clyde.

Anyone who knew Bill would tell you he was a selfless man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He loved to BBQ and loved his family and friends above all. Bill spent his life in the oilfield and worked hard to build and operate MOR Drilling. That was his lifelong dream to own a drilling company. When he wasn’t working, Bill’s favorite places to be were either the lake with his family or at a BBQ with friends and family cooking and raising money for charity. Bill’s contributions to the communities around Abilene will never be forgotten. His family and all who knew him will cherish the memories he leaves behind. Everyone who knew him will forever be changed by his kindness and love.
