Obituary

Bill Fowler, 86, was born October 7, 1936 in Merkel, TX. He went to school at Merkel and graduated in 1954. He then enrolled at Texas Tech in Lubbock and graduated in 1961 with both a degree in Architecture and Structural Engineering.

Upon Bill’s graduation, he raced in the national flat track motorcycle race in Dodge City, OK and won first place. Afterwards he joined the US Navy and attended OCS, officers training and graduated with officer’s commission at Newport, Rhode Island. After graduation he was stationed at El Toro Base in California. He returned to Lubbock and married the love of his life Barbara Sledge and they have celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Bill joined Title Luther Loving Architects in 1973 and later worked with Tippet and Gee until retirement. Bill and his family lived in Merkel the last 50 years and in 2004 he was crowned Mr. Ex at Merkel’s Homecoming.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his son: Robert and wife Lalla, granddaughters: Jacklynn, Ella, Lily, and Taylor, his other son Royce and wife Windi, granddaughters: Kleesy, Rainy, and Alley. Great grandchildren: Leo, Ben, Danny, Kal, Chainy, and Reece.

The family will have a private service.
