It is with profound sadness that the family of Betty Joan Stamper of Abilene, Texas, announces her passing on July 16, 2023, at 1:28 AM at the age of 82.
Betty was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on May 21, 1941. She married the love of her life, Donald Lloyd Stamper, on June 8, 1967. Betty was the proud owner of D&B Concessions for almost 20 years, where she served her community by providing food to countless non-profit organizations and public civic events. She was a member of South Point Church in Abilene, where she thoroughly enjoyed fellowship with other believers and beautiful worship music.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Don Stamper, grandson Dusty Logan, grandson Angel Stamper, sister Pauline Post, mother Katherine (Wilcox) Post, and father Paul Post.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Donald Lee Stamper (Pauline), Renee Denise Tom (Mark), and Ronald Lee Stamper (Ruby). Grandchildren: Donald Stamper, Nathan Stamper, Des'Rae Baker, Jacob Conners, Daniel Conners, Nathanael Conners, Amanda Lyle, Morgan Foster, Krystalline Napier-Robinson, Aaron Napier, Rebel Collins, Harley Stamper, Dusty Stamper, and twelve (soon to be thirteen) great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, her sister-in-Christ, Peggy Peterson, countless friends, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Donald Stamper, Nathan Stamper, Jacob Conners, Daniel Conners, Nathanael Conners, and Rebel Collins. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Baker, Kaden Baker, Bryson Stamper, Hayden Stamper, and Cason Lynskey.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Starbuck Funeral Home at 1022 N 2nd Street, Merkel, TX. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church at 301 Locust Street, Merkel, TX, on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Graveside service to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, TX.
Betty's family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to the loving staff at Hendrick Hospice Care. Also, there are not enough words to express how grateful the family is to the many staff members and residents who became Betty's family at Wisteria Place Long Term Care. They loved and cared not only for Betty over the years but also for her family in those final days.
