Bertha Martin

Mrs. Bertha Jane Martin, age 89 of Texas passed away on January 22, 2024, in Abilene, TX.

Bertha was born in Corpus Christi to Herbert and Lois Hierholzer on March 18, 1934. She married Charlie Rex Martin on May 26, 1967, in Abilene Texas. She managed and served at the corporate level for Mr. G’s food establishment and managed in the first Whataburger brought to Abilene. Bertha spent time attending church with her husband, creating art through ceramics and spending time with her grandchildren.

Bertha is preceded in death by her son, Brian Carvel McManus and daughters: Deborah Elaine Jensen and Donna Lee Halliburton.

Bertha is survived by her husband Charlie Rex Martin, daughter Nickie Dawkins and husband Michael, son Darrell Martin and wife Carissa, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday January 25, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm at Starbuck Funeral Home in Merkel Texas.

Funeral services will be held graveside for Bertha on January 26, 2024 at Rose Hill cemetery in Merkel, Texas beginning at 10 am.
