Bennie "Benny" Lee Stallo, 91, of Abilene, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Abilene, Texas
Bennie was born in Merkel, Texas to Bernard and Lora Stallo on January 22, 1935. He went to school in Merkel. He graduated from Merkel High School and attended one year of college at Texas Tech University.
On January 22, 1956 he married the love of his life Ola Frances Stallo in her parents' home of Trent, Texas. Later that year they welcomed their daughter, Lynda, a few years following they welcomed their son Dwayne.
Benny worked in the oil field industry for 50+ years, retiring from both Macalister and Bandera trucking companies.
Benny was a devoted father and a very hardworking man. He enjoyed singing, travelling, and restoring old vehicles. He was a spiritual man involved in many church activities, including mission trips, church camps, volleyball leagues and much much more. He will be remembered by his goofy, stubborn, and loving personality
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Lora Stallo, his wife, Frances Stallo, his sister, Betty Joyce Stallo and his brothers, Warren Jerrell Stallo, William Henry Stallo and Jack Eldon Stallo.
Benny was survived by his two children, daughter Lynda Testa of Abilene, son Dwayne Stallo and wife Kim of Denton, his sister's Mena Caughman of Boerne, Kay Harris and husband Clarence of Merkel, Jo Ann Land and husband Corky of Lubbock, Deborah Hays of Merkel. Grandchildren: James Micah Staggs of Las Vegas, April Payne and husband Brian of Abilene, Scott Tweedie of San Angelo, and Makenzie Stallo of Denton. Great Grandchildren: Ryan Staggs, and Rebecca Staggs of Houston, Addison Galindo and husband Henry of Abilene, and Conner Tweedie of San Angelo, Great Great Grandchildren: Raven Staggs of Houston and Aspyn Galindo of Abilene.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Stallo, Brian Payne, Scott Tweedie, Corky Land, Clarence Harris, and David Payne. Honorary Pallbearers are Henry Galindo, Tim Harris and Chris Brewer.
Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2026 from 6 to 8 pm at Starbucks Funeral Home in Merkel, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, February 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Merkel with Jacky Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Starbucks Funeral Home
