Amie Mae Williams Tutt, age 83 left to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Hendricks Hospice Care Center in Abilene, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Amie was born on March 11, 1941 at home in Trent, TX. She was born to the late Ellis and Amie Williams. She attended and graduated from Booker T Washington High School in Sweetwater, TX in the Class of 1959. Later after high school she married the love of her life, Willie Marshall Tutt on March 31, 1961. They were happily married until his death in 1993. Amie was a farm hand’s wife so she had to be on alert to go get tools and run errands for her husband. She also stayed home to attend to their five children. Amie talked her husband into moving out of the woods (in the country) and into town and she then followed in her mom’s footsteps and carried on the legacy of housekeepers. She kept house for many years for many of the local families in town. The families still cherish her to this day, for many of them she helped to raise their children, some if not all of them from birth. She labored as a housekeeper until her health, age, and a little push, (maybe shove) from her daughter, Marsha.
Amie was a faithful member of the Trent Church of Christ. Back in her early working days she and the family also attended the Merkel Church of Christ on Wednesday evenings.
Throughout all her years she has always been a “Dallas Cowboy” fan. Maybe even a “super fan”. She did not want anyone disgracing them or saying bad things about them ever. Some of the family members who are not as big of a fan as her, liked to tease her and she would threaten to use her cane against them. She loved her family and friends. She always wanted to do right by them. She would give her nieces and great nieces money for services done for her. They would sneak it back into her purse without her knowledge and then would rack her brain about where it came from. When she figured it out, she fussed at them and even threatened to spank them.
Amie was preceded in death by her parents: Ellis and Amie, Husband: Marshall, sisters: Mary Ella, Annette, Jennette, brothers: Odell, Cefell, R.L., and W.L., 2 sons Gary and Donald and Son-in-law James White.
Those left to cherish her memories, sons Donnie Tutt of Abilene and Michael Tutt of Merkel, and daughter Marsha White of Merkel. Grandsons Aaron Tutt and Jonah White of Merkel. Granddaughters Danielle Eleby of Merkel, Latoya Herrell (Brian) and of Ft. Worth, Nakesha Tutt of Houston and Ne’Shemia White of Abilene. Sisters Lilly Williams of Merkel, Alberta Turner of Abilene and Sister-in-law Callie Mae Tutt of Abilene. Four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Also, the special lady, Elizabeth Lafler who took such great care of her.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 5 to 7pm, at Starbuck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Merkel Church of Christ, with Freddie Famble, Minister of the Trent Church of Christ officiating. Services are under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
